Spicy & Chocolatey

How good does this look.. this is the new Mayan Chocolate from Haagen Dasz
Described as:

I think this inspiration will be the first ice cream I try with my new book....
There is a chocolate cinnamon ice cream recipe in there...
I just have to figure out quantities... because there is no way I want 2 quarts of this in the house LOL

I got this book for my birthday! Oh what to do first! I do have an ice cream maker in my storage area but I am not sure if it works... or if I have room in my freezer! I know what I will be doing this week!

Anyone have any recommendations???

Cold Stone Creamery knew it was my Birthday!

Does anyone have one of these in their area? We do!! It just opened :). And as luck would have it, I got a free ice cream email because of my....... BIRTHDAY. Well obviously I could not let it go to waste!! So I drove about 15 minutes from where I work to get there just to get the free "LOVE IT" size. Which is like a Medium.

After presenting my coupon they all broke into a happy birthday chorus. How nice! :). After looking at all the different creations I decided to go for the Apple Pie A La Cold Stone. I went for the Sinless Sweet Cream ice cream base (No Sugar, Low Fat) then they put apple pie filling, graham cracker crumbs, cinnamon and caramel in it and mix it all in. It was soooo good, tasted just like a piece of pie with ice cream on the side! I would definitely get this again!

And of course just like all other ice cream I buy. 2 spoonfuls for now and the rest for later savoring! So I brought it back to work and I am going to keep it in my freezer at work. Every day I will have just a little.

Birthday Week... I mean Day

I always seem to have a birthday week...
Various friends or family have to celebrate at different times for some reason...
So today was day number 3...
And what did we do to celebrate??
Go get ice cream :)
Seriously... I can't get away from it right now!!
Not that I am complaining...
But my freezer is groaning a bit!

We went to a new favorite of mine called Jake's Ice Cream...
She does small batch gourmet flavors...
I took home a flavor called Sticky Bon-Bon...
Cinnamon ice cream with candied pecans in it...
Um..... YUMMMMMMMMMMM

And had the "Devil Dog" while I was there...
Vanilla base with devil dogs mixed in... and a bit of Kahlua Chunk on top...

I brought several friends with me...
So hopefully she gets some more business from this event in the future...
I am about a 1/2 an hour away...
But always bring a pint home...

I did try the Mexican Chocolate... and though I am not a big chocolate fan...
The cinnamon and chili powder in the chocolate kept it from being so heavy...
And get it a great zing...

What flavor would you all make if you could create your own?
